Trump’s Vision for America: Unyielding Leadership and Bold Reforms By Capturing 3 Major Territories
Former President of U.S.A. Abraham Lincoin, the one who led the United States through the American Civil War once quoted, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
Today the words of former president are found to be true, when the upcoming President of the powerful nation, Donald Trump openly seek for annexation of the Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal by declining to rule out using military or economic coercion as he detailed plans in the press conference on Tuesday.

Canada
Trump in his press conference at Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida when asked whether he is going to attack Canada using military then he responded “No, economic force. Because Canada and the United States, that would really be something. You get rid of that artificially-drawn line and you take a look at what that looks like, and it would also be much better for national security — don’t forget, we basically protect Canada.”
In the response Liberal Party of Canada tweeted the picture reflecting united states and not the united states declining trump words.
Even the resigned Canadian P.M. Trudeau responded, “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.”
Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, who is expected to be his successor as Canada’s PM also denied sharply the Canada inclusion with America: “Canada will never be the 51st state. Period. We are a great and independent country,”
Elon Musk, known to be shadow President of United States however mimickingly teased Trudeau by saying “Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say”.
The war of words is intensifying between the two G-7 nations.
Greenland
Greenland, an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. US President-elect Donald Trump unveil his plan for the territory, He wants Greenland to be part of USA. But this is not the first time that the purchase of Greenland is in talks.
In 1910
In 1910, a proposal for the United States to acquire Greenland was discussed within the American government. Maurice Francis Egan, the U.S. ambassador to Denmark, brought up the idea. Danish officials close to Egan suggested a potential exchange: the United States would trade Mindanao and Palawan (Philippine islands) for Greenland and the Danish West Indies. Denmark could then offer Mindanao and Palawan to Germany in exchange for Northern Schleswig. However, Denmark ultimately regained Northern Schleswig from Germany after World War I, following the 1920 Schleswig plebiscites.
In 1946
In 1946, the US attempted to purchase Greenland from Denmark for $100 million worth of gold, claiming that it was an integral part of any military strategy especially in relation to the USSR. This was particularly popular with US officials such as Senator Owen Brewster or William C. Trimble from the State department who considered Greenalnd a vital base for arctic activities. Denmark, however, did not accept the offer, as viewed Greenland as culturally and historically important, however, lasting pressure from the US did not yield results. Sovereignty over Greenland has always been an important aspect of Denmark’s geopolitical strategies. The 1951 agreement between the two countries extended US negotiation over the presence of military bases in Greenland under the NATO defense strategy.
In 2019
Trump during his first tenure had also shown interest in buying Greenland due to its strategic and economic value. The proposal was put forward by Ron Lauder and Trump directed the likes of John Bolton and Fiona Hill to look into it. He proposed that they could use the funds received from Puerto Rico and even offered to barter Puerto Rico for Greenland. It was rejected firmly by Denmark and Greenland forcing Trump to withdraw from a state visit planned by him. Nonetheless, the idea did contribute towards the invention of conversation surrounding the future of Greenland and its strategic importance.
In 2024
The attempts and ideas to purchase Greenland were once again noticed by Collins alongside Trump who had hinted their followers towards “Project 2029” after Trump was re-elected in 2024. The idea of owning Greenland was promoted by Trump, due to US national interests and his administration worked towards creating a compact with them. However, leaders of both Denmark and Greenland were relentless in their service cancellations to refrain from any sale maneuvers.
Time will tell whether Trump will be able to get Greenland for his country or not.
Panama Canal
The Panama Canal, a manmade passage that connects the Caribbean and the Pacific Oceans, is one of the fastest routes when it comes to shipping goods across the globe. It saves ships valuable time and money as it allows them to not have to go around the bottom of South America. The French were responsible for the building of the canal, however, it was later completed by the US after which it remained under US control throughout most of the 1900s. President Jimmy Carter signed the treaty in 1979, marking the onset of gradual transition of control of the canal to Panama. The country fully took control over the canal in 1999 and it did so through the governmental body Panama Canal Authority. Although control is fully transferred to Panama, discussions regarding their administration are still ongoing. Now Trump thinks that the Panamanian government is charging too much for shipping and he believes that Panama is a part of the United States, so the moment he was inaugurated on January 20th. He also believes that maintaining a hawkish eye on China is pivotal for the US security as they’ve increased their influence in the South American region quite substantially during Biden’s term.
