He was born to Sooni Tata and influential Naval Tata. Ratan Tata schooled from the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and later went on to Cornell University in the United States to pursue architecture, which he passed with honors in 1962. Later on, he also attended Harvard Business School from where he completed his Advanced Management Program in 1975.

Working Career at Tata Group

Ratan Tata joined the Tata Group in 1962 and started working for Tata Steel. There he emerged as a sincere man and trendsetter. Later, he accepted the post of chairman of Tata Sons in the year 1991 and was succeeded in this post by the last chairman, J.R.D. Tata. He faced momentous change in the group, thereby diversification and modernization.
