iphone 17 Models:-
Every year around May, Apple begins to finalize the overall designs of the next iPhone. This year, Apple is expected to make some changes to the lineup and design overall, and these are the iPhone 17 models, or dummy units, of what the general design is like so that case makers and others can get an idea of what to make and what they look like early on.
Now, I’ve looked at these for years, every year, and I wanted to show you how similar they are. So these are the iPhone 16 models from last year, so 16, you’ll see we had some colors later on, 16 Pro Max, and they’re pretty close, but there’s a few things here that may change overall, and of course, Apple can change their mind and change them completely if they really wanted to.
Now, the biggest change this year is with one model in particular. Here we have the iPhone 17, 17 Air that replaces the 17 Plus, then 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. Let’s start with the iPhone 17 Air. Now the overall design is super thin, so you can see the overall design is slightly thicker than what we have with the power button itself. So just a little bit wider than that, of course we have camera control. On the bottom, again, USB-C is super small, and we don’t have a whole lot of room around that, so this gives you an idea of the overall thickness.
Speakers and microphones look to be symmetrical, if that’s accurate. And then on the left-hand side, we basically have the same thing we do now with the volume buttons and the action button. On the top, nothing really other than an antenna line, and one of the things that’s a little odd here is the camera bar in the back. We have a singular camera, and I don’t think this camera bar or design is correct, as it doesn’t really match the overall radius in the corner.
Apple doesn’t typically do that, so I would expect this to change a little bit, but this gives you a general idea of what to expect with the overall thinness. Now the display is said to be a 6.6-inch display, somewhere between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. So, this gives you an idea of what it could look like size-wise. So, 6.6 inches, 120 Hz Pro Motion is expected, and that could be expected on all iPhones this year, from the iPhone 17 up to the Pro models.
We also expect Apple’s A19 chip to make its way into this device, as well as the others, of course, and Apple’s own C1 modem, and possibly a new Wi-Fi chip that’s designed by Apple as well. For the back camera, we expect a singular 48-megapixel camera, possibly a 24-megapixel camera on the front, but that may only be Pro models, and also a better-sized battery than we would expect to fit in this overall size.
So maybe they’re utilizing some of the camera bar or camera tray here, or they’re just using a different type of battery. We don’t really know yet, but of course, we’ll have to wait for Apple to talk about that. Now, to show you the overall thickness compared to something else, I wanted to show you the overall thickness using calipers here . Let’s try further down here, 5.91.
Again, if I zero these out, you’ll see they’re zero, and then if we bring them in, it gives you an idea of the overall frame. So around 5.8 millimeters or so, super thin. Of course, this could be slightly thinner than this, possibly slightly thicker, but it gives you a general idea overall of what to expect. Compared to an iPhone 16 Pro, side by side, this gives you an idea as well. Look how thin this is overall, and to see this actually work once it’s available and you can turn these on will be something that I don’t think we’ve seen before.
So super thin overall, and it gives you that idea. I just hope the battery life is really good as well. Of course, accessories will be new for this. We don’t really have anything that fits it currently, but it gives you an idea of what to expect with the overall size. And just holding on to this feels a little crazy, and if it does have 120 hertz Pro Motion and has decent battery life, which is expected to be the same as we have now, maybe I’ll use it full-time when it releases later this year. Now, with the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max….
And these may not be the most accurate, but this gives you an idea here. So if we just place this here, this comes in at 5.93, and let me zoom in a little bit. But there are some slight differences here. So, of course, the overall design is very similar. We’re going to have a power sleep-wake button, our camera control. On the bottom, we expect the same thing here with USB-C, our speakers and microphones.
So, that gives you an idea of that. And then, of course, we’ll have the action button and our volume buttons. And then maybe a SIM card tray, but that’s probably outside the USA. Then on the top, our camera or our antenna lines, rather. And then on the back, of course, the camera bar or camera tray. It’s very different. Why Apple is utilizing this giant camera bar, we’re not really sure, but we do expect a slight upgrade to some of the cameras here. Of course, we’ll have three cameras.
